Types of General Purpose LED Light Bulbs

There are numerous advantages of applying LED light bulbs to your home and lighting applications. LEDs are energy efficient and produce light up to 90% more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs. It has a wide range of color temperature to create multiple mood in space and long lifespan to save you money and energy in maintenance and replacement costs. How do they work? An electrical current passes through a microchip, which illuminates the tiny light sources called LEDs and the result is visible light. To prevent performance issues, the heat LEDs produce is absorbed into a heat sink, resulting in low heat output and a cool surface. LEDs are commonly used in electronics and automotive industries, as well as for signage and everyday usage. They are ideal for various lighting applications, including indoor celling lights, decorative light fixtures, and outdoor landscape lighting. The most popular types of LED light bulbs for general purposes are standard LEDs, Downlight, and Globe bulb. 

 

1. Standard LED Light Bulbs:






LEDs are commonly used for bulbs and fixtures for all lightning purposes. They are usually small in size which allows LEDs to provide unique design opportunities. It is common for some LED light fixtures to use built in LEDs as a permanent light source. LEDs grant an enormous opportunity for innovation in lighting and fit a wider array of applications than traditional lighting.

2. Downlight/Recessed Light Bulbs:






LED downlights are basically spotlights that are recessed into a ceiling and provide a bright directional light. Since the fitting is pushed back into the surface of the ceiling, it is much more unobtrusive than traditional spotlights and not only make a room look stylish, but clean as well.

The only visible components of a fully installed downlight will be the lens of the bulb and the bezel that surrounds it. Downlights come in a variety of bezel finishes, from brushed aluminum and brass to black or white ceramic, it will be easy breezy to match the light with the room design. LED downlights now offer all the benefits of LED lighting, including longer lifespans, superior energy efficiency and, in some cases, the ability to tune the color temperature of the light. There are many different types of downlights that come in various shapes, sizes, and features from 8-inch thin regressed square lights to 4-inch RGB tunable recessed circle LED downlights.




3. Globe LED Light Bulbs:

   
   


LED Globe shaped bulbs are characterized by their larger sphere-like shape, and they easily add charm and style to different spaces as well as being brighter for practical uses. They are often used for bathroom vanities, kitchen islands or dining spaces. Although LED globes can be used with enclosed fixtures, they are most often used with non-enclosed fixtures for an artistic vintage touch.
